OPPO has announced that it will host an INNO DAY in China next week,
scheduled to begin on December 14th, during which the company will showcase a
variety of new products and innovations. announced that it will be launching
its first NPU (Neural Processing Unit) and new data glasses at the
event.
OPPO has said that the INNO DAY 2021 event will be held in a hybrid fashion,
which means the event will take place offline but the company will also
be accessible to everyone via online streaming.
According to the firm, Tony Chen, Founder and CEO of OPPO, also says the
company will also reveal some details about its other "latest cutting edge
technologies" like the retractable camera and the digital human. Additionally,
OPPO adds that innovations will be introduced in terms of image, AI, AR
and 5G.
Finally, OPPO reiterates the innovations it has introduced in the past
with INNO events. It outlines the concepts introduced in recent years
such as OPPO X 2021 Roll able Concept Handset and OPPO AR Glass 2021, adding
that it will continue the tradition by showcasing company latest achievements
that push the boundaries of technological advancement more than ever.

In addition to data glasses and an NPU, OPPO will also be showing a
retractable rear-view camera for phones at the event. The video shows a
strange first camera coming out of the camera module before retracting
inward.
The video shows that the technology is waterproof and shows that the camera
needs to retract automatically if the phone detects that it is falling.
Mainstream went with the OnePlus 7 Pro, the retractable rear view camera moves
back and forth on the Z-axis. It could be used for optical zoom and other
image enhancements, but OPPO hasn't said anything about it yet.
The trailer reveals that the lens used in the first demo is a 50mm lens that
could help the phone improve its telephoto lenses. The trailer shows that the
camera has a 1 / 1.58-inch sensor, a 50-equivalent focal length of mm and an f
/ 2.4. It's plausible that a retractable camera on smartphones could
allow smartphones to have optical zoom with just one lens, but OPPO has yet to
reveal details of the new technology.
While OPPO didn't reveal any other technical details of its first retractable
camera, it's good we don't have to wait long as the company is ready to
showcase the innovation at its INNO DAY 2021 event, which will be held on
December 14, 2021.
