iPhone 14 design leaked ahead of iPhone SE 3 launch

Apple's forthcoming iPhone 14 may look considerably different from past iPhone generations, according to newly leaked blueprints. While prior rumours suggested Apple might do away with the notch in favour of a punch-hole design, newer reports imply a punch-hole and pill design mix. With the iPhone 14 set to be released in less than six months, it's safe to assume that the schematic below depicts the next iPhone design.

The front-facing camera will be housed in the hole-punch camera, while sensors such as Face ID will be housed in the pill-shaped region.

While Apple may eliminate the notch in the future, it is still a few years away. Naturally, getting there will be a gradual process. As a result, the iPhone 14 will be a small update to the present iPhone form factor for the time being.

The image below was first posted on Weibo. The notch as we know it has been replaced by a hole-punch and pill design, as you can see. Weibo is a Chinese-language microblogging service that has been known to leak correct iPhone schematics months before the official release.

There's also talk that this new look will only be available for iPhone 14 Pro versions. However, in the future, the new design is expected to be common across the whole iPhone family.

While it's usually a good idea to take iPhone rumours with a grain of salt, it's worth mentioning that prominent leaker Jon Prosser said that the schematic above was true.

Before introducing a new iPhone, Apple frequently evaluates competing designs before settling on a final form factor. With that in mind, the image below is based on display analyst Ross Young's study. It's worth noticing that this example's hole-punch cutout and pill design are much smaller than the one shown in the schematic. Regardless, it provides us a broad picture of how Apple's iPhone 14 models will look when they arrive in stores later this year.
