The Apple iPhone 15 will be compatible with India's regional satellite network, Navigation using Indian Constellation (NavIC).

With the release of the iPhone 15, according to Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, India scored two significant firsts: first, the phone is now built in India, and second, its independent satellite system has received governmental support.

In order to provide Standard Position Service (SPS) for civilians and Restricted Service (RS) for official users, NavIC connects seven satellites with a network of ground stations.

Both services are offered in the L5 and S bands, and they extend 1,500 kilometers beyond the boundaries of India. The service can deliver a user's position with a 20m accuracy and their timing with a 50ns accuracy. Other GPS systems like Glonass and Galileo can interoperate with NavIC transmissions as well.
