Meta owns and operates a variety of products and services including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp. When Facebook launched in 2004, it revolutionized the way people connect. Apps like Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp further empowered billions around the world.

Now, Meta is moving beyond 2D screens toward immersive experiences like augmented and virtual reality to help build the next evolution in social technology. The company's focus is to bring the metaverse to life and help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.

The metaverse will feel like a hybrid of today's online social experiences, sometimes expanded into three dimensions or projected into the physical world. It will let you share immersive experiences with other people even when you can't be together — and do things together you couldn't do in the physical world.

The company's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. They are committed to building innovative new ways to help people feel closer to each other, and the makeup of their company reflects the diverse perspectives of the people who use their technologies.

At its two-day annual conference in Menlo Park, Cupertino, California, USA, Meta unveiled a number of AI technologies and capabilities for WhatsApp. According to Meta, these will gradually be made available to users for beta testing in the upcoming days. The new AI chatbot seeks to revolutionize how people talk with friends, coworkers, and family by enabling users to send Stickers created by AI, ask questions in group chats about certain subjects, and create pictures to represent concepts, objects, or people.

Here's the key features of three fresh AI offerings

AI Stickers: This feature allows you to generate customized stickers for your chats and stories1. Using technology from Llama 2 and Emu, the AI tool turns your text prompts into multiple unique, high-quality stickers in seconds1. This feature will be rolling out to select English-language users over the next month1. You may now design a unique sticker that perfectly captures a sentiment or idea for your chat.

AI Chats: You can use Meta's AIs to ask any question to learn more about a subject or try to settle a dispute in your group chat, as well as to hear from a variety of characters Meta has built who will answer in amusing ways. Meta is launching artificial intelligence-driven persona chatbots across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp4. This gives developers the power to create their own versions of AI assistants4.

Photorealistic Image Generation: AIs let you create visuals to represent a concept, a location, or a person by typing the command /imagine. Soon, you’ll be able to transform your images or even co-create AI-generated images with friends1. Two new features, Restyle and Backdrop, are coming soon to Instagram1. Restyle lets you reimagine your images by applying the visual styles you describe1. Backdrop changes the scene or background of your image.

Meta AI: Meta AI is a new assistant you can interact with like a person, available on WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and coming soon to Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Quest 31. It’s powered by a custom model that leverages technology from Llama 2 and Meta’s latest large language model (LLM) research1.

While AIs can read messages delivered to them, Meta cannot view your private messages because they are end-to-end encrypted. These features are expected to enhance user experience across Meta’s family of apps by making them more interactive and personalized.
