Motorola introduces the Edge 40 Neo: Initial thoughts, features, and more

The edge 40 neo, the third smartphone this month from Motorola, has just been unveiled. The edge 40 neo is a budget-

friendly smartphone with prices starting at Rs 23,999, but its features defy that. The sale of the smartphone will start on September 28 at 7:00 p.m.

Motorola announces edge 40 neo

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Design and available colors.
  • Storage or RAM
  • chipset and instant bank discount

The MediaTek Dimensity 7030 processor powers the edge 40 neo, which is available in two configurations: 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage (priced at Rs 23,999) and 12/256 (at Rs 25,999). For a limited time, Motorola is giving the phone at a special holiday price of Rs 20,999 and Rs 22,999. The edge 40 Neo will be sold in retail outlets, on Motorola.in, and on Flipkart. It can also be purchased with a Rs. 1,000 exchange bonus offer or a Rs. 1,000 quick bank discount.

The stunning 6.55-inch curved-edge display on the edge 40 Neo has a refresh rate of 144 Hz, making it obvious that it is designed with mobile gamers in mind. 36 hours of uptime were claimed by the 5,000 mAh battery. It sports two cameras on the back: a 50 megapixel primary camera and a 13 megapixel ultrawide camera. There is a 32 MP selfie camera on the front.

It comes in three color options: Caneel Bay (blue), Beauty Black, and Soothing Sea (mint), all of which have received Pantone certification.

Earliest views: When I opened the smartphone's box, the first thing I noticed was how absurdly slim it was. It is only 7.89 mm thick and 172 grams in weight. Motorola shipped me the Caneel Bay model, which has 256 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM. The back of this and Soothing Sea is a lovely, soft-touch vegan leather that makes it comfortable to handle the phone, which already fits the hand well because to its rounded edges. The "Acrylic Glass" that Motorola refers to as being present on the black model is a very silky, satin-feeling plastic.

A color-coordinated hard-shell rear cover has also been included by Motorola in the box. Motorola claims that the entire casing is comprised of plants, making it biodegradable. It is surprisingly stiff for a plant-based cover and doesn't cause the phone to become any heavier once you put it on. Along with the other customary extras, the box contains a 68W charger, a USB Type-C cable, a SIM ejection tool, and other accessories.

The design of the Motorola Edge 40 Neo is beautiful. The Caneel Blue is an eye-catching color. Additionally, it has an IP68 rating, meaning it can endure water and dust, whether it's a sandstorm or a brief dip in the pool.

The edge 40 Neo continues Motorola's legacy of providing a nearly vanilla Android experience. The software offers a simple and recognizable Android interface, similar to what you would see on Google's Pixel devices. You have easy toggles, a swipe-down notification bar, and access to the Play Store. Two significant Android OS updates are included with the purchase of the edge 40 Neo, and Android 14 is about to follow. Additionally, Motorola guarantees three years of recurring monthly security updates to keep your device current and secure.

The majority of the pre-installed applications are Google services, but Motorola has also added a handful of its own, like Family Space, which offers children a secure online playroom. There is also Moto Secure, which improves the security protections already included in Android. There are several pre-installed apps on the device, but you can remove them.

Other notable features from Motorola include "Ready For," which enables rapid pairing with a PC or tablet for exchanging apps, files, and streaming media. You may fully customize the Moto app by choosing your own fonts, colors, backgrounds, and icons. There are other gesture controls like "Flip for Do Not Disturb" and a useful shortcut for the flashlight.

The monitor provides vibrant images, supports 10-bit color, and streams HDR10+. The front of the gadget almost entirely consists of a screen, with the selfie camera's little punch-hole cutout hardly interfering with the viewing experience. The screen is visible even in bright outside lighting thanks to its brightness, which can exceed 1300 nits.

Despite not having an always-on display option, the display is notable for its 144Hz refresh rate, which allows for a smooth user interface and supporting apps. Instead, you can switch to using third-party apps or the double-tap or shake-to-wake features.

The stereo speakers on the gadget have a passably high audio quality. The bottom speaker carries the majority of the load, but even at maximum level it is loud and clear.

High Performance mode, call blocking, notification blocking, snapshot capture, and screen recording are just a few of the device's features specifically designed for gaming. Both gamers and content producers will find these features useful.

The edge 40 neo has a huge 5000mAh battery that can last all day thanks to the effective Dimensity 7030 chipset. Additionally, 68W wired fast charging is supported, providing a significant boost in just 10 minutes.

A 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilization make up the camera configuration. The camera app provides a variety of presets and AI upgrades for better photos. Although the camera performs well for a low-cost smartphone, individuals looking for high-quality photographs might not be satisfied. Nevertheless, it manages to produce decent images in the majority of situations, excelling in well-lit settings. Subjects and backgrounds are effectively separated in portrait mode.

Although it tends to give slightly muted colors, the 32MP selfie camera on the front delivers good results. Thanks to the screen flash function, it manages indoor and low-light situations fairly well. Up to 4K resolution is supported for video recording, and good audio quality is provided.
