Apple has unveiled a new MacBook Air featuring an M2 processor and MagSafe interface.

It has a notch on the screen and a more powerful processor.

Despite the fact that Apple's WWDC isn't known for many of the hardware announcements, a new MacBook Air was unveiled at the keynote. The new 2022 model is built around the more powerful M2 processor, and it features a form that is more squared-off than the typical wedge shape, similar to the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

MagSafe charging, two Thunderbolt USB 4 ports, and a headphone jack are all included. It measures 11mm thick and weighs 2.7 pounds. Silver, space grey, and new "starlight" gold and "midnight" blue colours will be offered. Each model comes with a braided MagSafe cable that matches the colour, which is a lovely touch.

  

Starting in July, this MacBook Air will cost $1,199. Although the product page is up and running, Apple is not presently taking orders. The M2, an eight-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage are included in the entry-level model. The $1,499 variant has a 10-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage for those who need more power, storage, and RAM. Up to 24GB of RAM and 2TB of storage are supported by each configuration. The Air, which is based on the M1, will remain at $999.

The larger 2560x1664 13.6-inch display of the 2022 MacBook Air is surrounded by fewer bezels. Its peak brightness, according to Apple, is 500 nits. It has a fan-free, silent design, which is impressive considering the performance benefits Apple claims the M2 can deliver. Apple claims it's 40% quicker than the previous model, but that speed improvement is likely to vary depending on the app.

A 1080p FaceTime HD webcam, as well as improved mics and speakers that enable Dolby Atmos, are among the little but crucial features of 2017 MacBook Air. I'm confident that this webcam will enough for the majority of folks. However, if you upgrade to macOS Ventura, you'll be able to use the Continuity Camera feature, which allows you to use your MagSafe-compatible iPhone's camera as a webcam. The new 2022 MacBook Air has Touch ID on the keyboard, just like the previous model.

The base MacBook Air model will come with a 30W charger, but Apple is also providing a new $59 67W power converter that will charge it to 80% in just 20 minutes. Instead, the $1,499 model comes with a 35W dual-port USB-C power converter. It does, however, sell this adapter separately for $59.

Not to be left out, Apple's 13-inch MacBook Pro will also receive the M2 update. So, if you're a Touch Bar fan, you can get the best performance with an unusual approach to control your function row. The price of this model will be $1,299.
