    • India still has access to PUBG New State.
    • Krafton, the manufacturer of BGMI, said it is looking into the situation.
    • India has continued to restrict PUBG Mobile since 2020.

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has unexpectedly vanished from the Google Play and Apple App Stores for India. The game was released last year, following the ban of its previous incarnation, PUBG Mobile, by the Indian government in 2020 for security reasons. PUBG New State, produced by BGMI's manufacturer, Krafton, is currently available for download on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

The timing of the removal is not coincidence, as a BGMI-related problem was just addressed in the Rajya Sabha. Legislators were debating whether action movies are damaging to youngsters. The upper chamber was debating a media story claiming that a "kid killed his mother based on PUBG that he was playing." Last month, the incident occurred in Lucknow.

On July 22, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar told PTI that law enforcement officials are looking into the situation. The minister also stated that its previous iteration, PUBG Mobile, will be banned in India beginning in 2020.

An organisation spokesman said, "We are clarifying how BGMI was removed from the Google Play store and the App store and will let you know once we have particular information," in response to a query from India Today Tech.

A Google representative further said, "Upon receipt of the order, in accordance with established procedure, we have contacted the impacted developer and have restricted access to the app that remained on the Play Store in India."
Users who already have BGMI installed on their cellphones are still able to play the game as of the time this story was being written. Players are concerned about a recent update the corporation released because of a potential ban.

When BGMI returned to India this year, its creator, Krafton, declared that it had broken relations with Tencent, a Chinese company, and that Indian users' data would be protected. Additionally, the business has a deal with Microsoft to host BGMI on Azure. Microsoft's public cloud computing solution, Azure, enables game developers to construct, run, and expand their games on a worldwide basis.
