'Dynamic Island,' and Apple's removal of SIM card trays from phones, are two of the more impressive updates on new devices.
HIGHLIGHTS
- The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
- Instead of the iPhone's notch, a "Dynamic Island" has been added.
- Crash detection.
- Satellite-based emergency alerts.
- A New Pro Camera System Class.
- No more SIM cards.
The first event of its kind after the outbreak saw the devices being revealed in person at Apple Park in Cupertino. With the combined energy of over a thousand tech nerds, Apple super fans, content makers, and some serious writers, the event itself lived up to its typical standards.
Apple unveiled the gadgets and wearables in their signature sleek and practical style. Some of us wished Apple CEO Tim Cook had stayed on stage and engaged with the crowd a little bit more. The entire programme was a recorded one.
The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max
Starting with brand-new features on the Pro versions, such as a dynamic island, crash detection, an emergency SOS calling service via satellite, and the first-ever 48MP camera on an iPhone, let's discuss the most intriguing aspects of the devices.

How does Dynamic Island function?
The 'Dynamic Island' has taken the place of the iPhone's notch, and the internet is not having it. Apple calling the pill cutout the "Dynamic Island" is the most Apple thing they've ever Appl-ed, according to well-known tech critic Marques Brownlee.

New methods to interact with the iPhone are made possible by the "Island," which updates in real-time to display significant alerts, notifications, and activities.
The TrueDepth camera has been updated to occupy less screen space with the arrival of "Dynamic Island." It keeps itself in an active state so that users can tap and hold to access controls more easily.
In iOS 16, "Dynamic Island" can be used by third-party apps that offer information like sports scores and ride-sharing with Live Activities while keeping running background activities like Maps, Music, or a timer visible and interactive. It's a stylish upgrade, in my opinion, and a clever approach to make the pill notch seem more integrated into the user interface.
Crash detection
When a user is unconscious or unable to reach their iPhone, the iPhone's crash detection feature can now identify a serious traffic accident and promptly notify emergency services. a handy device.

The service is made feasible by a new dual-core accelerometer that can measure up to 256Gs of G-force as well as a new high dynamic range gyroscope. In a statement, Apple said that these features "draw on existing components, like the barometer, which can now detect changes in cabin pressure, the GPS for extra information for changes in speed, and the microphone, which can recognise loud noises typical of serious auto accidents."
According to the manufacturer, the microphone only activates when driving is detected; Bluetooth, CarPlay, or speed can cause this.
Unless the user has chosen to share their data in order to improve crash detection, all data is processed on the device and deleted after a crash event has been recognised. Apple just receives the sound level, not the raw audio, according to the business, allaying fears about privacy.
Even more precision is provided by the company's sophisticated motion algorithms, which were refined using more than a million hours of actual driving and crash record data.
Since Apple Watch is likely closer to the user than iPhone is when a serious crash is detected, the emergency services call interface will appear there rather than on iPhone. At the product launch that followed the speech, there was no opportunity to test this application, though. We must accept Apple's word that it functions flawlessly.
Emergency SOS via satellite
The Emergency SOS via satellite was a feature that top Apple analysts believed will be released. According to Apple, the technology combines specialised parts that are tightly connected with software to enable antennas to connect directly to a satellite, enabling messaging with emergency services even when there is no cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity.
"Messages can take minutes to transmit through satellites since they are moving targets with poor bandwidth. Since every second matters, Emergency SOS via satellite on the iPhone asks the user a few crucial questions to assess their position and instructs them on how to point their phone at a satellite, the company stated.

The initial inquiry and any subsequent communications are then forwarded to centres staffed by specialists with Apple training who can make support calls on the user's behalf. When there is no cellular or Wi-Fi connection, this technology also enables users to manually transmit their location with Find My over satellite.
Users in the US and Canada will be able to access Emergency SOS via satellite in November, and the service will be free for two years.
A New Pro Camera System Class
With Photonic Engine, the iPhone 14 Pro advances computational photography even further, providing a significant improvement in all cameras' performance in mid- to low-light conditions.
The 48MP main camera in the Pro line-up is a novel innovation with a quad-pixel sensor that automatically adjusts to the acquired image and second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilisation. The quad-pixel sensor also offers a 2x Telephoto option, which leverages the sensor's 12 middle megapixels to produce full-resolution photos and 4K recordings without using a digital zoom.

The quad-pixel sensor is useful for professional processes as it enhances detail in ProRAW. Additionally, iPhone now shoots ProRAW at 48MP with exceptional detail thanks to a new machine learning model created especially for the quad-pixel sensor.
Additional improvements and functionality for pro camera systems include:
A new 12MP Ultra Wide camera with 1.4 m pixels produces photographs that are crisper and more detailed, enhancing the already potent powers of macro photography.
a more advanced telephoto lens with a 3x optical zoom.
With a new front TrueDepth camera with a /1.9 aperture, images and videos can perform better in low light. It can focus even more quickly in low light and take group photos from a greater distance by utilising autofocus for the first time.
With an array of nine LEDs that vary patterns depending on the selected focal length, a new Adaptive True Tone flash has been totally redesigned.
Benefits of computational photography that are strong include Night mode, Smart HDR 4, Portrait mode with Portrait Lighting, Night mode Portrait pictures, and Photographic Styles to customise the appearance of each shot.
A new Action mode responds to large shaking, movements, and vibrations, even when the video is taken in the midst of the action, producing an amazingly smooth-looking video.
Both a 4K at 30 fps and a 4K at 24 fps cinematic option are offered.
professional video operations, such as ProRes3 and full Dolby Vision HDR.
No more SIM cards
Looks like the answer is yes. With 5G connectivity, iPhone gives consumers lightning-quick download and upload speeds, improved streaming, and real-time connectivity to keep them connected. With extended support for standalone networks, 5G on the iPhone is currently supported by more than 250 carrier partners in more than 70 markets.
For the US versions of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, the SIM tray has been eliminated, allowing consumers to set up their handset more quickly and efficiently.
A more secure alternative to a physical SIM card, eSIM enables users to connect to or quickly transfer their existing plans and supports several cellular plans on a single device. This upgrade is fantastic, but there is a problem if a user needs to downgrade to a phone with a SIM card tray for any reason. Then, what happens?
The new communication, sharing, and intelligence capabilities in iOS 16 have completely reinvented the Lock Screen and altered how users use the iPhone.
The newly designed widgets on the Lock Screen provide information quickly and have a multilayered effect that puts the subjects of photographs in front of the clock. This makes the Lock Screen more personalised. I should also mention that this has been the situation with Android smartphones for some time.
Deep purple, silver, gold, and space black are the four new finishes that will be offered for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Pre-orders open on Friday, September 16 for iPhone 14 Pro and October 7 for iPhone 14 Pro Max in India and the product will be available starting on Friday, September 16.
